The one that has a hello kitty with a lot of slots was in the 80s. I remember almost every male and female student had cool pencil cases to show off with a lot of Mongol pencils, sharpener or cool erasers. I only knew few who used mechanical pencils as their writing instruments. There are a lot of students who want to show off, but there are some who forgot their pencils at schools. All of the functional pencil cases had popular and cute characters like Snoopy, Hello Kitty, Transformers and other cool designs of pencil cases in the Philippines.

I used to have cheap versions of these. Just plastic. No foamy top. Pretty sure mine got two openings. On one side, the pencils can be pushed up at an angle and on the other there's two levels of storage that can pushed up on hinges.
